Burning Sands
The Burning Sands Alumni Football Foundation sells merchandise and apparel at home football games, conducts raffles throughout the year, and hosts an annual golf tournament to ensure adequate funds to support our mission. Since its inception 12 years ago, Burning Sands has donated over $100,000 for athletic needs such as weights for the team’s weight rooms; food for football recruits and their parents; tuition costs for football camps; installed motivational boards in the locker room; and purchased washers and dryers. Additionally, the organization has assisted other university programs by providing meals/refreshments for the marching band during out-of-town games, donating dress attire to the VUU Student Clothes Closet, and providing monetary support to improve the softball field.
“The Burning Sands Alumni Football Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund” was established in November 2021. The endowment was established to provide football players with scholarships, and at the end of December 2022, the endowed scholarship fund had reached over $70,000.
Donations to the Endowment are always welcomed and can be made (1) electronically at vuu.edu by clicking on Donate, Designate, and scrolling to the Burning Sands Alumni Football Foundation Endowed Scholarship; or (2) by mailing checks/money orders payable to Burning Sands Alumni Football Foundation to the organization at P.O. Box 434, 1500 North Lombardy Street, Richmond VA 23220.
